Community organizer, journalist, mom

Meriam is a dedicated advocate for education, women’s rights, and government accountability. With a Master’s in Political Science from Lehigh University, all three of her boys in public schools, and now as a Penn State mom, she champions a strong public education system. Her journalism career has focused on women’s education, peace talks, and combatting extremism both here and abroad.
Dedicated to Community
Her commitment to serve with compassion is rooted in her upbringing. Meriam is the daughter of proud Americans deeply involved in public service. Her parents worked tirelessly in their community, both civil servants–her mother in the VA Hospital as a pharmacy technician helping veterans get the care they needed, her father in the NY State Court Administration Office, where he was a proud union member.
Bringing People Together
Meriam wants Pennsylvania to thrive as a state that works for everyone, and she’s driven by a desire to bring people together and work towards a more just and prosperous future. Meriam is running for State Representative to stand up for the rights and needs of the community and is committed to making our Commonwealth work for everyone.

Improving our public schools, keeping the government out of decisions between a doctor and their patients by protecting our reproductive rights, and standing up for our democratic freedoms are vital issues in our Commonwealth, and I will be an unwavering advocate for them. With your help, we can build a better, brighter community!
